"Everyone I met seemed so satisfied with what they have, in spite of having so little. In Canada, we have so much but we always just want more."
Although Ecuador is the smallest of Andean countries, it is huge in its historical, cultural and natural wonders! Straddling not only two hemispheres but also two worlds - the ancient and the modern - Ecuador offers travellers a striking blend of landscapes, peoples and cultures. Ecuador boasts incredible diversity it its indigenous cultures, tropical forests, and active volcanoes.
During this trip, we will explore some of the ways that Compassion International is helping to release children from poverty. Southridge is partnering with Compassion in our global anchor cause of Child Survival. During this trip, we will experience first-hand the issues that prevent families in the developing world from experiencing enough. As we discover the factors that contribute to poverty, we will also learn more about the ways that Southridge, through our partnership with Compassion, is bringing about change particularly in the lives of mothers and children. As an added bonus, individuals who sponsor a child in Ecuador through Compassion will have the opportunity to visit their child during this trip.
The Ecuador Exposure Trip is intended to be a first-hand exposure to global poverty, as a way to express our faith globally, for anyone who wants to engage in global outreach. In order to participate on this trip, team members do not require any specific skill-set other than a desire to serve others and to grow personally and spiritually.
